![]() ![]() Immunization Status Satisfied at a Previous Institution A hold will be placed on the student's record which will prevent registration or class schedule adjustments until the immunization requirement is met. Once a student enrolls in a class that physically meets on campus, he/she will be required to immediately provide proof of the required immunizations. ![]() Students who are taking FULLY online classes will need to complete an immunization form (top section, under the Exemptions section check the box that states you are enrolled in distant learning only and sign) each semester and submit the completed form to Health Services at the immunization hold be updated to allow for registration or class schedule adjustments. Students Enrolled in Fully Online Classes Students enrolled in a fully online degree program will be automatically exempt from the immunization requirement until they are no longer an online learner. Immunizations for Special Populations Students Enrolled in a Fully Online Degree Program If a student is missing immunizations and would like to be immunized, vaccinations are available at Health Services for a fee. If a student is unable to locate his/her immunization records but is certain of being immunized, a blood test (titer) showing the student's immunity will be accepted. Immunization Forms and Submission OptionsĪcceptable forms showing proof of immunizations include the UWG Immunization Form (signed by the student's health care provider), or an official document from a clinic or county health department. Upon acceptance to UWG, a HOLD will be placed on the student's account preventing registration. Prior to registering for classes at UWG, students must provide proof of the required immunizations (PDF). It is the policy of the University of West Georgia to comply with the mandatory immunization program established by the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia. The Board of Regents (BOR) has established immunization requirements for all new students (first-year, transfers, and others) as directed by policy. 569, § 4.As a unit of the University System of Georgia, the University of West Georgia is required to adhere to the Board of Regents Guidelines regarding immunizations. The department shall also amend the state plan if necessary to meet federal funding requirements. The department shall take all necessary steps to apply for federal funding to implement the vaccination program under this article including use of an expedited application procedure if circumstances require such.The vaccination program established pursuant to this article shall be implemented only upon receipt of federal funding or grants for aid available and approved for purposes under this article.The department may contract with county and local health departments, not for profit home health care agencies, hospitals, physicians, or other licensed health care organizations to administer the vaccination program for emergency responders.The department shall notify emergency responders of the availability of the vaccination program and the risks associated with such vaccinations and shall provide educational materials to emergency responders on ways to prevent exposure to infectious diseases.In the event of a vaccine shortage, the commissioner, in consultation with the Governor and the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, shall use federal recommendations to determine the priority for vaccinations for emergency responders.An emergency responder shall be exempt from vaccination when a written statement from a licensed physician is presented to the department indicating that a vaccine is medically contraindicated for that person or the emergency responder signs a written statement that the administration of a vaccination conflicts with his or her personal choice or religious beliefs. ![]() The program shall include diseases for which vaccinations are recommended by the United States Public Health Service and in accordance with the Federal Emergency Management Directors Policy and may include, but not be limited to, vaccinations for hepatitis A, hepatitis B, diphtheria-tetanus, influenza, and pneumococcal. The department shall offer a vaccination program for emergency responders who may be exposed to infectious diseases when deployed to a disaster location. ![]()
